First Time in Bali ♥

Bali. B A L I . Oh, Bali . . .

I will always love you and will never forget the magic you consist of ♥ !
Bali is an Universe. A whole different planet. . .Like a whole different place. Like a Paradise on Earth. This island is magical. The people, oh I love Balinese people! The food? Oh, I can’t live without it. The weather – warm, the sun – bright, the love – everywhere.
How can you live without all this?

So Bali is the reason I really felt for travelling and exploring the world. Me and my boyfriend share this same passion, so we try to travel as much as possible. As often as possible. After visiting the Indonesian island I just felt so bored of living my regular life in my home country Bulgaria and doing almost only work so I decided to try to change that and find a way through my passion in yoga and healthy lifestyle to travel more and live like a digital nomad some day.
So let me introduce you the island shortly. *Bali is an island and province of Indonesia. The province includes the island of Bali and a few smaller neighbouring islands, notably Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. Its capital Denpasar is located in the southern part of the island.

With a population of 3,890,757 the island is home to most of Indonesia’s Hindu minority. According to the 2015 Census, 83.5% of Bali’s population adhered to Balinese Hinduism, followed by 13.4% Muslim, Christianity at 2.5% and Buddhism 0.5%.
Bali is a popular tourist destination, which has seen a significant rise in tourists since the 1980s. Tourism-related business makes up to 80% of its economy. It is renowned for its highly developed arts, including traditional and modern dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music. The Indonesian International Film Festival is held every year in Bali. In March 2017, Bali was named as the world’s top destination in the world.*

Tanah Lot Temple, Canggu, Bali

Me and my boy visited Bali in May 2017 but I haven’t written any posts till now, I know. I wasn’t ready. I missed this place so so much and so long after I came back that I was ready to go there right again. We bought tickets 1 month after we came back, but the tickets were for the next year. And now this year has arrived and guess what! Yes, we’re going again very soon! In few months only! But first, I’m going somewhere else in February. So stay tuned. πŸ™‚

Bali was more than I expected. Unbelievable island with beautiful beaches, incredible temples, amazing people, lovely views, pretty sunsets. . .

The place we stayed during our visit on the island was a charming modern place named Canggu. A place for surfers, for backpackers, yogis and like minded people.
A place with unforgettable sunsets, magical ocean views, romantic fish restaurants on the beach with amazingly beautiful views.

Our whole stay was in our friend’s villa Lemon Guest House. Really an amazing place to stay! We felt safe and at home there. There was always food on the counter top in the outside kitchen – fresh fruits every day, local sweet treats, Balinese coffee and tea. And as not everyone knows I have to say the water in Bali is not drinkable. You don’t have to even wash your teeth with it. That’s why we often bought mineral water from the local super markets and always kept a bottle in our room. But anyway Lemon Guest House offered also always free mineral water on the bar enough for all of the guests. Excellent housekeeping, we were very satisfied also with the good price for our stay. Thank you Gagus and everybody from Lemon Guest House for making our stay unforgettable! Now go check them here.  Oh and I forgot to share my love for the breakfast included with the price for the stay. We had an awesome traditional Balinese breakfast every day in a beautiful small cafe right next to the villa. I can’t wait to eat this amazing food again.

So during our 20 days stay in Canggu and in Bali we visited almost the whole island and by the non-tourist way of course – with a motorbike. We launched only 4 excursions with our friend’s cousin, he is a very good driver btw, go message him on facebook he’s the best really! Good price, excellent service!!! — DAE ANTO

Here we’re together on an excursion with Dae anto, Bali

He picked us from the airport in Denpasar late at night around midnight and drive us to Canggu. After that he brought us to 4 excursions.
First one was to Nusa Dua, then we visited a lovely beach called Pemuteran, we had a nice swim in the ocean and then went to Uluwatu Temple and Jimbaran Beach for a dinner. As we were very excited to explore and get to know the island we had to go visit this tourist places, but it was worth it. We really felt the Bali culture. We got to know so many things about Balinese people, traditions and history.

Nusa Dua is the place with the best beaches for swimming. But also the most expensive. If you look for 5 star experience this is your place. This wasn’t our thing so we just had a fast walk there and then went to Uluwatu Temple to watch the beautiful sunset. It was really breathtaking. . .

I also found some friends there! The monkeys in Bali are almost everywhere outside the big cities and anywhere you go where’s a jungle you will meet them. They’re not aggressive only if they feel that they’re in danger or worse their babies are in danger. But anyway they’re very cute, just don’t touch them and don’t give them shitty food.

After that we visited Jimbaran Beach, where we had an unforgettable dinner on the beach. It was really so so romantic. Just unforgettable. I totally recommend to everyone that is first time in Bali!

Next day we went surfing. I got an exciting surf lesson from the best surf couch Gagus Adi. I recommend him, because I catched 3 waves from the first time on the board! He’s the best. You can connect with him here. If you’re going to Cangguu and you’re keen to surf please do! I had so much fun! πŸ™‚ Every day we went surfing and after that we hoped on our motorbike and went to exciting unknown places to explore. The same day we went to Kuta. This place is crazy. It’s very busy, full of tourists. Actually it’s not for us at all. If you’re going to Bali for night life, good restaurants, cafes and clubs – this is your place. Our visit wasn’t really about that, we wanted to explore so much more from this sacred place so we’re not going to Kuta again next time!

Next day we went to our second excursion with our friend and driver Dae Anto. This time we explored the chocolate factory, Candidasa, some lovely temples and Virgin Beach on the east north side of the island. It was an awesome day! We explored places with not so many tourists, so we had a kinda non touristic excursion.

All of the places we visited that day were amazing and so special. After such excursion the only thing we wanted to do is go eat some delicious dinner in Cangguu and then go to bed so we can be ready for the next day’s adventures.
The days after we explored Bali by our own on the motorbike. Thank God my boy is such a good motorbike rider! I’ll talk for the next 1-2 minutes in photos. . .So I’ll show in the next few photos some of the highlights we visited and I strongly recommend to be visited when you’re on the island.

I know, I know, so many beautiful temples, so many beautiful views everywhere. Bali is just magical.
We are almost at the end of our first meeting with this gorgeous island, but still had things to see. So we went on our 3th excursion with our friend and driver Dae Anto. This  one was a long and full of highlights. We went to Pemuteran, where we watched the beautiful sunset, but on our way we visited other beautiful spots. I’m showing you again through our photos what we’ve seen that one day.

Pemuteran amazing sunset, Bali (one more, it’s just too beautiful)

And after we came back from Pemuteran in Cangguu, after all the beauties we’ve seen we spent our last 3-4 days surfing, beaching and chilling in Cangguu with motorbike walks in afternoons. We saw many things, we explored many beautiful places and our leaving back home was near. But before that we had one more stop. One more adventure to live before go.
Our 4th and last excursion with Dae Anto was something much different. We were going to hike one of the volcanoes – Mount Batur! It was very exciting, I was seeing a volcano for the first time in my life and I was also going to hike it! It couldn’t get more fun! And we did it! We woke up early at 1 a.m still in the night and went to the trekking point where we went with a group at 3 a.m. and we were on the top at 5 a.m. just to meet the sunrise. It was breathtaking!

When we left we were 100% sure that next time we go to Bali we are going to hike the other volcano – Mount Agung, which is the highest volcano in Bali, but maybe our plans will change after the eruption in November last year. Hopefully everything will be ok till then, but all we can do now is to pray for the people living next to the volcano which homes are in danger. God be with them!
